If content wants to be free, then to hell with content.

Through Lee Meredith’s inspiring blog, I just read about an amazing new web service called Flattr. Basically, it’s a way of providing some real support for those wonderful people who post free content online (great blogs, tutorials, recipes, etc.).

You decide how much money you would like to contribute each month — let’s say it’s $10. Every time you visit a site that you think was really great, you click on their Flattr button. Let’s say you click Flattr buttons 20 times that month. Each author gets 50 cents. That may not sound like much, but even just a few bucks a month can help people with hosting fees, materials, etc.

The service is still in beta, but you can sign up for an account. I’ve put myself on the list!
